I was stressed, frustrated, and a fairly frazzled mum trying to raise my two children on my own. I’d done so many things in the past – tried direct sales, had a couple of retail stores, dabbled at investing, manufactured clothing, was a network marketer, pizza maker, aerobics instructor, swimwear designer, night packer at the supermarket, receptionist, leaflet deliverer, I even hired out umbrellas and sprayed suntan lotion on tourists at our local beach. Everything I’d done previously not only failed, but it felt like hard work, and for the most part, work I did not enjoy.

There I was in my 40’s, I’d tried working for others (which felt like I was in jail) and I’d been in a number of businesses that sucked all the money out of my life and all the life out of me. I had no idea what I was going to do to change things.

Then I heard about coaching and it spoke to my soul. Discovering that I could work from home, making money in the personal development industry made me feel like I’d found my place in the world. I had to borrow the money for my coach training, but it was the BEST decision I’ve ever made and it has completely turned my life around.

Every coach has their own list of reasons why they’ve chosen this path, here’s my top reasons. If they resonate with you it’s probably because a coaching career could be perfect for you!

Supports You Spiritually
I love that I am continually growing spiritually, exploring, discovering and transforming into the greatest me possible. Coaching has opened me to a higher power – I call it different names at different times – the Metaphysical, the Universe, Divine, Source, God, All that Is, My Higher Self – this amazing source allows me to create, attract and manifest far easier and faster than I could by myself.

Connecting to this source has allowed me to find more meaning, purpose and joy in life. It’s enabled me to connect more deeply with my essence and create a life beyond anything I had previously imagined.

Transforms You Emotionally
As a coach I’ve opened myself to enormous emotional growth. I thought being a coach would be all about transforming my clients lives, which of course it does – but the biggest transformation has been in me. It’s enabled me to control my emotions and take full responsibility for my life which in turn has given me more success, balance and happiness.
Being a coach has given me the tools and the determination to be more accountable and live with integrity. I have more peace and less stress and find I make better decisions and choices in my life as a result of being a coach.
Rewards You Financially
For most coaches, money is not the main motivation. It’s usually a desire to help others and the ability to work in the personal development industry that draws people to a coaching career. However, as I changed people’s lives, I found my prosperity increased. This is true of so many coaches, as has been stated “When you follow your bliss, the money will follow”. The great thing about coaching is there is no ceiling to my income.

I love that the more I learn and grow both personally and professionally, the better coach I become and the more money I’m able to bring into my world. It is such a blessing to be making money doing something I absolutely love by empowering, uplifting and coaching others.

Allows You to Make a Difference
Not only am I becoming the best me possible, not only am I creating a business I love, not only am I making money doing something I’m passionate about, but I’m also making a real difference in other people’s lives. I can’t even begin to tell you how fulfilling it is to get feedback from clients telling me how their lives have changed.

I feel so proud when I see my clients begin to not only set, but to achieve goals they’ve dreamt about for years, if not decades. And really, achieving goals is something they probably could have done by themselves, but with me on their side, they achieve their goals so much faster and much easier because I’m supporting them and cheering them on and holding them accountable. They love the results, and I love that this is what I now do on a day to day basis, and that I’m making a really difference in the world!

Can Focus on Your Own Personal Development
It’s enabled me to understand myself and how life works. I’ve been able to enhance my self-esteem, expand my self-worth, build my mental discipline and strengthen my inner power. I would be immersing myself in all things to do with personal empowerment anyway, so being a coach has allowed me to turn my passion into a vocation, into my business, into my career.

Now I have a good reason (as well as a justifiable tax deduction) to enjoy all the personal development and success focused events, courses, books and audios I want. What a bonus!

Continue to Learn and Grow
This reason follows on from the last one. I have a huge passion for learning – and personal development is part of that, but I also love learning about success principles and how to be the best me possible in my business life.

I was so excited my coach training also taught me a solid business foundation through practical skills like goal setting, time management, basic business skills, creativity, marketing, money mindset and so much more. I get to embrace my passion for learning and growing as much as I like now. I know that growing as a person helps me be a better coach, and by being a better coach my clients lives are enhanced – it’s a win/win all round!

Become Part of an Amazing Community of People
Coaches come from all walks of life, all ages, many backgrounds and all corners of the world. Despite the diversity, the one commonality is a desire to support others. Being part of a friendly, caring, spiritual, like-minded, supportive ‘family’ is such a blessing.

If I was feeling stuck, or down or needed some direction, I had a whole bunch of kindred spirits ready, willing and able to support me and guide me to the success and happiness I desired. I love that coaches focus on what IS working and how to make things better.

And the best thing was, when I was first training to be a coach, I met a beautiful goddess who has since become my very best friend. We are truly soul sisters and I can’t imagine my life without her. We have only known each other 10 years, but it seems like lifetimes. We’ve been through many ups and downs, marriages, children’s births, great successes, crashing failures, but through it all our connection has remained strong and loving. I feel so blessed to have her as my friend. The people you’ll meet, the connections you’ll make – both personal and business – may be the most important you ever experience and will transform your life!

Time and freedom
One of the main reasons I love coaching is because it’s so incredibly flexible. I am the master of my days and my destiny.

So many people looking for a change. They’re tired of the 9-5 job, they’re sick of the high pressure career, they want to get out of the rat race or a business they no longer enjoy and do something fulfilling that gives them the freedom to do the things they’re passionate about. That’s the gift coaching offers. I value my time (and financial) freedom very highly, so I had to find something that gave me an abundance of both.

Once I was a coach I could decide how much time and energy to put into my new career. I can coach part-time, full-time or whenever I feel like it. I am able to choose my own hours and work with clients I like, when it suits me. I get to spend time with my friends and family, doing things I love and living a life that makes my heart sing. I’m able to travel where ever I want and I can coach from anywhere in the world if I choose.

Coaching is the ideal career path to give me the freedom I value so highly and to spend my time doing what I love and focusing on what is important and meaningful to me.

Challenging and exciting
When I first discovered coaching, even though it called to my soul, I nearly didn’t follow through because the idea scared me so much. I had so many questions (or should I say fears) running through my head… “How can I be a coach; how will I interact with clients; will I be any good; what if I make a mistake; how do you coach someone; what if no-one wants me to coach them; what if I don’t know what I’m doing and look silly?”. So many doubts about whether this would actually work for me nearly stopped me from saying “YES” to coaching.

All I can say is, I am SO glad I pushed through the fear because I have never looked back. With great training and on-going support I believe anyone who has the desire can be a coach, and not just any coach, but a great coach! And because the coaching industry is so new and growing so fast, and millions of people around the world are open to change and transformation, it’s such an exciting time to be involved in what I consider to be one of the best and most rewarding professions available on our planet today.

Gives You Direction and a Sense of Purpose
As I shared before, I was feeling a little lost before I found coaching. I knew I loved personal development, but had no idea how I could become involved in or even create an income from something I was so passionate about. I thought there were only two ways to make money in that industry – either speaking at seminars or writing a book, both of which I had NO idea about and would NEVER in a million years consider doing anyway because I was so shy. (Side-note: Once I become a coach and my self-esteem and confidence grew I eventually started to speak to small groups, which slowly grew in size and I’ve now spoken to thousands of people around the world, written a bestselling book and been featured in dozens of others – but that’s a whole other story!).

Becoming a coach allowed me to focus on what I truly loved and because I was so focused, doors opened, opportunities were presented to me, people stepped forth to support me in ways that still fill me with gratitude today… it’s amazing what the universe can deliver to you once you take that first step, once you make that commitment, once you step up and say YES, this is what I want to do!
